Traffic from forums is very effective. The reason is that you are generating highly-targeted traffic for your niche.

The first thing to note is that forums are communities, and communities thrive because of the give-and-take relationships. Forums have members and people with COMMON INTEREST.

You can literally find a forum on just about ANY niche, be it: home improvement, beauty products and topics, auto repair, home financing, computers and internet or any other of 100s of 1000s, if not millions of topics.

You can produce quality forum traffic by using effective posting in a matter of hours … sometimes even minutes.

1- Google a forum in your niche.

2- Spend a little time reading what other members are posting about, so you can get a good sense for the culture of this community.

3- You might also want to pay a little attention to the types of user-names that other members are using. Check to see whether signatures are allowed.

4- Should you decide to join choose an appropriate user-name. Maybe a keyword that has to do with your niche. Better yet, your own name. People will take you more seriously if you use your full name. Your name will have value and you will be treated as a professional (live up to it). Another tip on selecting your username, is to place your URL right into your user name.

5- Your signature is your backlink to your site. Spend some time on that and come up with good KEYWORDS when creating your signature.

6- Complete your profile with all the important details (your photo … sometimes little info about your background along with a link to your website). Now it’s time to start posting.

7- After a brief introduction of yourself in your first post, start looking for questions that members are asking … then provide some quality answers. Where appropriate, refer to your website, or specific articles YOU have written to provide them with extra information.

8- Treat upcoming questions as an opportunity for YOU. Keep track of them all the time. You are getting a feedback of the problems of the forum members. If they are common problems, you need to provide solutions.

9- The practice of advertising your services in forums, is generally not acceptable and is viewed as spamming. You should have already known that. However, many forums include a section or marketplace where you can buy/sell/trade/ or swap …etc. Search those out and make use of them as much as you can.

10- Gain the right balance. Participate often enough to show your experience and gain credibility. Note though that too much time in forums negatively affect your productivity. Find some balance and the most important thing is to gain some credibility and BRAND YOUR NAME.

11- Make it a habit to help solve people’s problems. Naturally, this will result in people clicking on your link and visiting your website. You’ll be generating targeted traffic in no time. Now go find your fav forum and apply these tips.
