Before posting in free classifieds ads, it’s strongly recommended that you set up another extra business email address. These sites are free for a reason… when you post ads, you’ll receive tens and hundreds of “confirmation emails” that your ads were posted. Posting to classified networks, may very well end you up with hundreds of confirmation emails per day.

Set up a free email account to catch these emails. Then clean it up once a week or so, so that your inbox doesn’t get full.

Paid classified ad sites may differ, but then it is always wise to test and track each site (especially paid ones), so that you know which one is productive, and you should stay with in future (via the hits results/responses you get from it), and which one is sterile and should be avoided.

What Time/Day You Should Post Your Ads On

I’m gonna show you below, a graphical chart that displays how Internet traffic flows during the hours of the day:

Combining and analysing these statistics, will show you that it is best to post an ad on a Tuesday, 12 noon CST. This is the day and time when most people you target are active on the Internet. You can also notice that it’s a waste of time to post an ad at 5 a.m. on a Saturday.

Take advantage of these facts, and you can improve your results by 10 times or more.

Submission softwares are useless. The reason is that they post to sites no real human visits. All good classified ad sites have protection against these programs. Posting manually or with the help of a typing program, like my fav Adwizard, are the best and probably the only methods.

A major mistake most people make when searching for classifieds ad sites or forums to post to, is that they do an online search for “classified ad sites” or maybe “internet business forums“. You will no doubt find a lot of sites to post in this way, BUT is that what your target audience do?

No! They search for a phrases like “work at home“, “home based business opportunities“, etc. Try to put yourself in the shoes of someone who is looking for a work at home opportunity. How’d they go about searching for this topic on the internet? Think of the phrases they may type into their fav search engines…Now, type one of those phrases in the search box of the major search engines, and research the sites that show up in the results. Then, try those phrases with different search engines (Yahoo!, MSN, Google, Lycos, etc.).

When you’re conducting your research, go to EVERY site that comes up in the first 20 matches. Take notes or print out the results, especially the Yahoo! and Google results.

Finding classified ad sites or forums in this way is a little harder and more time consuming, but it’s well worth the extra trouble!

Something about posting in forums and message boards: ALWAYS post in the right category and ONLY when advertising in the specific forum is allowed. Also make use of the signature lines most forums allow you to have, even if they prohibit making advertising posts. You are generally allowed to have a link that shows up at the end of your posts, called your signature (sig for short) in which you can use to advertise your biz. Being friendly and replying to posts other members make and offering tips will gain you popularity and expose your link more.
